Texas A&M Prepares to Offer a New Course on Wordle Strategy

In an effort to stop students from playing it in other classes, Texas A&M University has decided to offer a new course next year on basic Wordle gameplay.

“I’m just glad the university has finally realized the academic importance of this game to the Department of Communications,” Gavin Miller, the potential professor for the class, said. “I only wish lectures could be every day to keep up with the fast-paced nature of the game”.

The course, titled “Introduction to Wordle”, will be a four-credit course: three hours of lecture and one hour of lab. During the course, students will learn starting word strategy, basic synonym theory, and practical applications of the game.

This change has incurred a mixed response from the student body. Many undergraduates are excited at the prospect of a core curriculum English class with no writing, but some students have expressed skepticism concerning the new course.

“I usually play Wordle in my other classes. If I had a class dedicated to the game, what would I do in my other lectures? Learn?” junior Ben Harrington said.

With the recent advent of spin-off word games such as Contexto and Strands, the university is considering adding new courses to tackle these complex English puzzles as well. Depending on the popularity of these courses, Texas A&M has hinted at adding a major for students who truly wish to develop a mastery of these games.
