Songfest Participant Realizes True Life Calling

In a shocking turn of events, a local Texas A&M University student and Songfest participant has reportedly begun questioning nearly every decision that led him to his senior year, including his major, career plans and intention to graduate.

After months of rehearsals, the student says he has discovered an unexpected passion for performing and is now seriously considering abandoning his plans to pursue a career in accounting in favor of a career in dance.

The revelation reportedly came during a late-night Songfest rehearsal after he successfully completed a challenging eight-count for the first time, prompting him to reconsider years of academic preparation, professional development and involvement in campus organizations.

“I always thought I was going to graduate and start my career as an accountant,” he said. “But after spending the last several months dancing in the George Bush parking lot, something has just clicked. I’m meant for something bigger. I’m meant to be under the lights. Deloitte will always be there, but Songfest only happens once a year.”

Friends say the transformation has been difficult to watch. Once dedicated to classes, a million different student organizations and job recruiting, he now seems interested in little beyond Songfest. Conversations have shifted to lengthy discussions about stage presence and storytelling through movement.

The student has reportedly begun exploring options to remain at Texas A&M for another year, citing unfinished business with Songfest.

“I just don’t think I’m ready for this to end,” he said. “Why would I graduate when I could keep doing this? I might even go out for chair next year.”

The student has reportedly been looking into Texas A&M’s dance programs and asking his advisors whether Songfest participation could qualify as a full-time academic commitment.
