Aggie Democrats Break Records with Historic Two Votes Cast

Following the 2024 election results, the Texas Aggie Democrats are celebrating what they call a historic victory: a record-breaking two votes cast for Democratic candidates in Brazos County.

The milestone, doubling their previous record, was met with cheers at their election night watch party at the Northgate McDonald’s. 

“We’re beyond thrilled,” President Kyle Parker said. “This is truly the power of grassroots organizing. Last time, we had one voter. This time, two. If we keep this up, we’ll be in the double digits by the next presidential election.”

When Mugdown reporters went around campus to get students’ perspectives, many of them had no idea what we were talking about.

 “I didn’t even know we had a Democratic club,” agribusiness senior Darren Turner said. “Are you sure Freudian Slip isn’t behind this? It seems like an elaborate bit.”

One student was hopeful that this could be a sign of bipartisanship at this conservative university. 

“Maybe this is how change starts,” communication freshman Julie Taylor said. “You know, two votes here, three votes there, and before you know it, you have a study group.”

The Aggie Dems see this as an opportunity to grow their presence on campus. Plans for next year include printing fliers, hosting a voter registration booth in the MSC and potentially moving their election watch party out of the McDonald’s corner booth.
