All Two New Mexico State Fans Descend On College Station For Saturday’s Game

In advance of the Texas A&M versus New Mexico State football game this Saturday, reports indicate both of the two New Mexico State fans have descended on the Bryan-College Station area.

The game is expected to be confusing as both teams are known as “the Aggies.” While it’s true that New Mexico officially adopted the “Aggie” moniker in 1920 — 29 years before Texas A&M did so — A&M Aggies had already been unofficially called “Aggies” for decades. We as a school have also been around longer, and, their mascot isn’t even an Aggie, it’s some entirely other thing called Pistol Pete. Do they really have any argument?

The game, barely a blip on A&M’s radar, is a big deal for New Mexico State, so much so that all two of their fans are making the trip out to Kyle Field this Saturday.

“There are way more New Mexico fans here than we expected,” Mateo Cruz, NM State fan, said. “I keep seeing signs cheering on the Aggies and people saying the Aggies are going to sweep the opposition. We’ve never gotten this kind of engagement before.”

Locals reportedly see Cruz’s reaction like a dog that thinks you’re singing for it at a birthday party.

“Poor, confused Mateo,” mechanical engineering junior Alex Hernandez said. “I wasn’t sure how to break the news to him. I mean, how do you come all the way here and not know we’re the Aggies too?”

Hernandez later expressed excitement at seeing how the two New Mexico fans would react to all the Aggie chants.

“Hey, they’re more redass than some of my friends,” Hernandez said. “I’m going to keep this illusion up for as long as I can.”
