Business Career Fair Masks Pyramid Schemes With Free Stickers

This week, at the business career fair, vulnerable business students exposed the fair’s manipulative strategy of using free swag to cover up their sophisticated pyramid scheme recruiting efforts.

The annual business career fair is marketed as an opportunity for aspiring professionals to obtain an internship or full-time position. However, free stickers, cheap company swag, and photo opportunities to commemorate attendance pose a distraction, leading many hopeful students to sell their souls to deceptive sales roles disguised as life-changing opportunities.

Junior management information systems major, Russell Harvey, practiced his elevator pitch with a few companies before noticing signs of being scammed.

“One company lured me in with promises of money and rapid career advancement, but I was skeptical when they immediately asked me to sell their product to my mom,” Harvey said. Harvey denied the internship offer but took the free swag anyway.

The staff running the fair appeared indifferent to the disingenuous practices of some recruiters, going so far as to participate in the facade by distributing free stickers, taking Instagram-ready photos under a balloon arch, and of course, accepting the company’s fees to recruit at the fair.

Free corporate swag, once seen as a college keepsake, now serves as a reminder of the lies lurking in the corporate world. The career fair stands unveiled as a ruthless predator, leaving students stranded in the aftermath of a well-orchestrated scam.
