Student Senate Moves to Impeach Jimbo Fisher

On September 12th, the Student Senate brought forth articles of impeachment against Jimbo Fisher for violating the Aggie Code of Honor by getting students’ hopes up. The articles were signed by all 73 Senators, marking the greatest show of unity since saving Northgate last fall. Specific crimes cited in the articles included “squandering talent,” “inability to coach,” “destroying the great reputation of this university,” “threatening donor relations,” and “bad bull.”

Senator Auren Johnston of Mays Business School gave an impassioned presentation outlining his reasons for impeachment.

“Every year he gets our hopes up and then totally blows calls,” Johnston said. “We finally got an OC and he still can’t call plays? He needs to put the program first and step down.”

Rousing applause followed Johnston’s speech. Other senators signed for a variety of reasons, citing Battered Aggie Syndrome (BAS), ludicrous contract buyouts, and “just wanting to impeach someone.”

The impeachment succeeded with 73 in favor, none against, and none abstaining. This decision has been unilaterally praised throughout the student body, reminding many, like mechanical engineering sophomore Kallie Lu, that the Student Government Association exists.

“The Senate may have done nothing about the McElroy debacle, academic freedom, or protecting diversity on campus,” Lu said. “But it’s nice to know my representatives have my back on the things that really matter.”

The legality of the impeachment is unclear considering Jimbo did not have an opportunity to defend himself, but one thing is clear: SGA is done playing games .
