Jimbo Fisher to Teach Contract Negotiating Class at Mays
Coach Jimbo Fisher, in a collaboration with Texas A&M athletics and the Mays Business School, has agreed to teach a class on contract negotiations this Spring. This decision was made following Saturday’s loss to the Miami Hurricanes, which guaranteed that Fisher will not be game planning for any meaningful bowl games over the winter holiday. This will leave him with plenty of time to lesson plan for the semester.
Dr. Nate Sharp, the dean of the Mays Business School, said that it was a logical choice to bring Coach Fisher on board as a faculty member for the Spring.
“Here at Mays, our focus is to advance the world’s prosperity, something we strive to do by hiring the very best faculty for our students,” Sharp said. “As a negotiator, Jimbo has shown his prowess by securing a top 10 salary as a middle of the pack coach, and we’re excited for the value he can bring in this role.”
Coach Fisher touched on one of the key lessons he’ll be focusing on this semester during a press conference in the Wehner lobby, mentioning a strategy that has served him well.
“It’s all about getting leverage, however real that leverage may actually be,” Fisher said. “If you don’t have leverage, sometimes you have to make something up, like a rumor that LSU is willing to pay you $125 million for eight years.”
Interested students can apply for Fisher’s class by dropping a completed application off at the athletic director’s office or by making a contribution to the 12th Man Foundation’s Jimbo Fisher buyout fund.
— Batt for Both Teams
A softball extraordinaire, Batt for Both Teams was an up-and-coming player of Texas A&M’s own. One fateful day after too little sleep under a too-bright sun, Batt for Both Teams stumbled from the outfield and into the batter’s box. She hit a home run that day, but for the wrong team. Now, neither of her partners will let her live it down. We just hope the sun doesn’t get too bright for her to write something for some other newspaper on campus… But that probably won’t happen… right?
