Co-Chair Forced to Choose Between Boyfriend and Fish Camp

For the past few months, Summer Mendoza, a Fish Camp chair for Yellow Camp Banks, has been preparing for the freshman’s first tradition with her co-chair and counselors, but all of the late nights spent with her male co-chair have begun to concern Mendoza’s boyfriend, Henry Domino.

Despite reassurances from Mendoza that her co-chair “is gay” and that their relationship is not being replaced by Fish Camp, Domino was not convinced.

“Summer is always texting her co-chair more than she texts me, I can barely get a response these days between all of these road trips and work weeks,” Domino said. “I also don’t like all of the ‘camp’ sleepovers that they keep having at her co-chair’s apartment.”

To try and resolve the situation, a frustrated Mendoza went to the Fish Camp chair GroupMe for advice. A variety of responses quickly came from her fellow chairs saying “Fish Camp is for life” or “if he doesn’t get Fish Camp, he isn’t the one.”

With her ring by Spring dreams on the line, Mendoza dwelled on her options as she was pulled in two different directions.

“Do I choose Henry and leave my Fish Camp and co-chair to fend for themselves?” said Mendoza. “Or, do I break up with him after all these years and give my freshman and co-chair the camp they deserve?”
